General Examination Information
  • Four examinations are offered by CNRC: CAE, CRE, CTE and COPD Management Exam for Current CAEs
  • The CAE, CRE and CTE Exams are 3.5 hours in duration
  • The COPD Management Exam for Current CAEs is 2.5 hours in duration
Permissible Items/Breaks
  • Candidates are permitted to have a clear, label free water bottle with them during the examination
  • Scrap paper and/or writing utensils will NOT be permitted during the exam. You may use the notepad function in the exam interface to make notes during the exam. You can familiarize yourself with this feature by taking the tutorial available on your exam page.
  • Candidates are not permitted to leave the room for any reason, including bathroom breaks, at any point during the exam. If you have an approved accommodation, this may not apply to you.
Acceptable Forms of Identification
  • You must present a form of original, valid (unexpired) government issued photo identification to the proctor. The first and last name that you used to register must match the first and last name on the ID you present at the time of your exam.
  • Acceptable forms of ID include: Driver's licence, passport, military ID card or provincial/territorial ID card.
Platform Tutorial
  • The platform tutorial is available to all candidates to gain familiarity with the examination platform prior to their exam appointment. It can be accessed by logging into your account and clicking on the exam tab.
  • The tutorial exam will not effect your examination results, responses or timing, and you can take this as many times as you choose.
  • NOTE: There is no content specific questions in this Tutorial.
